Update : 10 Feb 2020, 12:27 PM

Another Bangladeshi student, who returned from China, has been admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

The student was admitted to the hospital on Sunday night.

Head of RMCH Medicine Department Dr Debendronath Sarkar said: “We will be sending him to Dhaka’s Kurmitola General Hospital today [Monday].”

Dr Debendronath, who is heading the medical board formed at the hospital for coronavirus, did not disclose details regarding the symptoms of the student.

Medical Department’s Assistant Professor Dr Narayanchandra said: “The student has been suffering from fever, breathing problems, and is frequently vomiting.”

Earlier on Saturday, another Bangladeshi student was admitted to the hospital with fever and respiratory problems after returning from China.

As of Monday, coronavirus has claimed more than 900 lives, mostly in China. The World Health Organization (WHO) has already declared a global health emergency.

The virus is believed to have originated late last year in a food market in Wuhan that was illegally selling wildlife.

New cases are being reported every day around the world, spurring cuts to travel, outbreaks of anti-China sentiment in some places and a surge in demand for protective face masks.

Medical experts say the rising number of human-to-human transmissions outside China suggests a greater potential for the virus to spread further.

The death toll from coronavirus have surpassed the number of deaths from SARS, or Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.
