An earthquake, measuring 4.1 magnitude on the Richter scale, shook Sylhet around 1:10pm on Monday.
The epicentre of the earthquake was near Gowainghat in Sylhet, about 205 kilometres North East of the earthquake observatory in Dhaka, said a bulletin issued by Electronic Assistant Md Hanif Saikat from the Agargaon Met office.
The earthquake caused many of the city’s residents to panic, and flock to the open spaces after coming out of their homes.
Sylhet Fire Service Station Officer SM Humayan Karnayan said there was no report of any casualty.
