
In the second such incident in two days, a rally of Chittagong south district unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was disrupted on Wednesday after its two factions clashed, leaving at least 15 activists injured.
Seven of them were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital while the rest to local clinics. The injured BNP men could not be identified immediately.
Mentionable, a rally of BNP north district chapter was also halted due to a factional clash on Tuesday at the party's Nasiman Bhaban office at Kazir Dewri area in the city.
The supporters of the unit's Secretary Hazi Shahjahan Jewel and those loyal to a local BNP leader Enamul Haque engaged in a series of chase and counter-chase as the rally began at 4pm at a community centre in Patiya upazila's at Indrapole area.

According to sources, the followers of Jewel intercepted the supporters of Enamul as the latter were entering the rally venue, ensuing the brawl.
The feuding activists were also seen throwing plastic chairs at each other.
Afterwards, they barred traffic on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Highway in the area for some time and started vandalising vehicles. Afterwards, the situation was brought under control after police intervention.
When contacted, Patiya police station's Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Mohammad Neyamatullah said the factions locked into the clash over establishing supremacy at the venue.
A BNP activist was detained for vandalising vehicles, he confirmed.
BNP standing committee member Dr Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, as chief guest, attended the the rally, but left the venue as soon as the infighting surfaced.
Meanwhile, BNP central organisng secretary (Chittagong Division) Mahbuber Rahman Shamim said the rally was foiled owing to misunderstanding between the two groups.
A tense situation prevailed in the area over the pre-scheduled rally. Additional policemen were also deployed to avert any untoward situation there.
