Update : 29 Apr 2017, 03:20 PM
Four militants killed in a raid on a Chapainawabganj hideout have been buried at the municipality's graveyard. Additional Superintendent of Police Mahbub Alam Khan said the burial took place late Friday. Only one of the militants was identified as Abu Ali. His family refused to accept his body. Police buried the four militants after collecting DNA samples from the three yet unidentified extremists.

Security forces said the militants had blown themselves up at their Shibnagar hideout on Thursday, a day after law enforcement agencies laid siege to it. A woman, Sumaiya Begum, believed to be Abu's wife, had surrendered with a four-year-old girl Wednesday afternoon. Shibganj upazila Nirbahi Officer Shafikul Islam said they had imposed a restriction on movement which would be in effect until further notice. The government intensified its anti-terrorism operations after last July's Dhaka cafe attack in which 22 people, including 17 foreigners, were killed. Police have since compiled a list of nearly 5,000 suspected militants. A number of leading militant figures have since been killed in counter-terrorism raids across Bangladesh.
