Bride-to-be burnt to death

An HSC examinee from Gazaria of Munshiganj succumbed to her injuries early Friday, two days after she was set alight at her home. Victim Sonia Akhter had suffered 80% burns in the attack Thursday morning and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. She died around 2am while undergoing treatment. Sonia was attending the HSC examinations this year from Dr Abdul Gaffar School and College. Mother Hazera Begum alleged that some miscreants launched the attack on Sonia, who was supposed to get wed to her maternal cousin after the exams. A case was filed against unnamed persons over the death. Officer-in-Charge Hedayetul Islam Bhuiyan said that they were investigating the matter to identify the culprits.
