A Chhatra League leader has been hacked indiscriminately and attacked with acid over a business dispute in Narayanganj.
The incident took place at the Bottola area under Fatullah union around 7 pm on Monday.
The victim Saiyed MD Munna, 35, is the sports secretary of Fatullah Thana Chhatra League.
He is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition, confirmed MD Allauddin, residential medical doctor at DMCH's emergency department.
Munna’s brother Shaon claimed a group led by Saiful and Rokib, who owed Munna a significant amount of money, attacked the Chhatra league leader near post office road in Fatullah. Locals rushed to the scene and rescued Munna after hearing the commotion.
Munna was first taken to a local clinic before being shifted to DMCH.
When contacted, Fatullah Model police station Officer-in-Charge Md Samsul Alam said: “No one has complained about the incident yet. We will take legal action after a complaint has been filed.''
