Members of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) in a drive have recovered betting equipment from the warehouse of a handset factory in Narayanganj.
A team of CIID, led by its Additional Director General Shamima Akter, conducted the drive at Best Tycoon (BD) Enterprise Limited located in Rupganj around 4:30pm on Sunday, a press release said.
The CIID members raided the factory responding to a tip-off that the factory authorities imported gambling equipment (for playing Mahjong) along with raw materials with a false declaration evading duty, it said.
Legal action was underway, the release added.
