Police have recovered the body of an Awami League leader from the Meghna River in Hatiya upazila of Noakhali on Sunday morning.
Bahar Uddin Shardar, 40, who was the general secretary of ward no. 6 unit Awami League of Char King union in the upazila.
Hatiya police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Mojid said: “Locals spotted the body in the river Sunday morning and informed us.”
District Awami League advisor and former lawmaker Mohammad Ali said Bahar had been missing since April 13.
“Miscreants might have abducted and killed him,” he said.
