At least 11 people were killed in two separate accidents in Sadar and Nagarkanda upazilas of Faridpur yesterday.
In Sadar upazila, at least eight people were killed and 20 others injured when a Gopalganj-bound bus plunged into a river, from a bridge on the Dhaka-Faridpur Highway in the Dhuldi area around 2:30pm.
Five of the deceased were identified as Faruk Hossain, 50, Abu Hanif, 40, Asma Begum, 35, Abdullah, 55, and Wahid, 40.
Kotwali police station OC FM Nasim said the bus hit the bridge railing before falling into the river, which killed six people on the spot.
The injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where two of them died, he said.
In Nagarkanda upazila, a bus rammed an auto-rickshaw and killed three people, including a woman and her son, on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway.
The deceased are Reshma, 30, her son Rony, 13, and Abul Hossain, said Nagarkanda police station SI Md Abdul Gaffar.
