4 of a family killed in Mymensingh road accident

Police seizes bus involved in the accident but driver manages to flee

Four members of a family have been killed and two other injured as a bus hit a private car on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway.

The accident happened at Ramgopalpur area in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh around 10am on Friday.

The deceased are Rafiqul Islam Jibon, 46, a textile mill owner, his wife Nazmun Nahar Shahin, their son Nadim, 20 and daughter Ronjahan, 15, hailing from Mymensingh’s Susong Durgapur.

Kamrul Islam Mia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gouripur Police station, said: “The Kishoreganj-bound bus hit the car coming from opposite side, killing Nazmun on spot and leaving five others injured.

“The injured were rushed to the local health complex where doctors declared three of them dead.”

The driver of the car and another unidentified child were shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Police seized the bus involved in the accident but the driver managed to flee, the OC added.
