The ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route in the Padma river of Munshganj district remained halted since 11.45am on Wednesday due to bad weather.
Besides, plying of all water vessels including launch and speedboats has been disrupted on Shimulia-Kathalbari route due to strong currents in the Padma river.
The authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) suspended the services since 11.45am due to strong current in Mid-Padma to avert any further untoward incident, said Abdus Salam Miah, general manager (GM) of BIWTC’s Kathalbari ghat,
In addition, the launch was being carried out passengers lower than its capacity due to the storm current in mid-Padma.
A good number of vehicles have been stranded on both sides of the ferry ghat.
