A yellow taxi cab has fallen into the Turag river near Salehpur bridge on the Dhaka-Aricha highway.
Witnesses said the taxi cab lost control when it tried to overtake a passenger bus on the highway and jumped into the river at 8:30pm Sunday.
It is believed that the cab was carrying two to three passengers during the accident.
Later, locals called 999 and called in the fire service to rescue the victims.
At 11:33pm, four units from the Fire Service and Civil Defense were conducting a rescue operation at the scene.
