Seven killed in road crashes

In Thakurgaon, two people were killed in separate road accidents in Sadar and Pirganj upazila.

At least seven people were killed and four injured in separate road accidents in five districts on Saturd.

In Thakurgaon, two people were killed in separate road accidents in Sadar and Pirganj upazila.

In Sadar upazila, a man was killed when a truck collided head-on with a microbus on the Thakurgaon-Dhaka Highway around 7am. 

The deceased Khejmot Ali, 35, was a mechanical engineer of the Akij Group.

In Pirganj upazila, a woman was killed when a truck ran her over, hitting a cycle that was carrying her in the afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Alka Rani,50.

In Sirajganj, two people were killed and three others injured in a road accident in Kamarkhand upazila.

Sources said the incident occurred near the Kashem intersection of the Saidabad-Nalka Highway around 7:45am.

The deceased were identified as Majid Majumdar,60, and Abdul Khalek, 55.

Bangabandhu Bridge (West Zone) police station OC Syed Shahid Alam said a speeding North Bengal-bound truck rammed a tow truck while trying to overtake it, killing the two in the tow truck, on the spot.

The injured are under treatment at a local hospital.

In Satkhira, a college-teacher was run over and killed by a truck on the Satkhira-Khulna Highway in Patkelghata upazila in the morning.

The deceased was identified as Jahanara Khatun, 38.

Locals said a fuel truck hit a van from which Jahanara fell on impact. She died on the spot when the truck ran over her.

Patkelghata police station OC Rejaul Islam said police seized the truck and arrested truck driver Nazrul Islam.

In Kushtia, a man was killed in a motorcycle accident on the Bheramara-Daulatpur Highway in the afternoon.

The deceased, Ujjal Hossain, 25, died on the spot as he was not wearing a helmet.

Bheramara police station OC Molla Khabir Uddin said: "Ujjal lost control of his motorcycle in Satbaria. He succumbed to severe head injuries when he fell off the motorcycle."

 In Nilphamari, A man was killed after  a  truck collided with his motorcycle head-on, in the Rajarhat Hafizia mor area of Jaldhaka upazila in the afternoon.

The deceased Mozaffar Ali, 34 died on the spot. His wife was injured in the incident and received treatment at a hospital.
