Unidentified attackers have shot dead an indigenous mother and daughter in Rangamati's Kaptai.
According to Additional Superintendent of Rangamati police Md Sufi Ullah, sometime Monday night in Chandraghona upazila's Raikhali union, a Marma mother-daughter duo was shot dead in their home.
The deceased have been identified as Mra Sang Khai Marma,60, and her daughter Sangnu Marma, 29. A security forces team and Chandraghona police went to the scene and recovered the corpses in the morning after they were informed.
Local sources, on condition of anonymity, claimed that the deceased mother and daughter's husbands were active members of Marma Liberation Party (MLP). They recently left that party to join a local political party in the hill tracts. Their defection angered members of the MLP and the murders were retaliation.
