The US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R Miller, on Monday, visited the six-day long joint exercise between Bangladesh Air Force (BAF), and the United States (US) Pacific Air Force, tilted “Exercise Pacific Angel-2019-1” being held at Lalmonirhat.
The joint exercise’s opening ceremony took place on Sunday at Lalmonirhat Kadamtola High School premises, reports UNB.
Air Officer Commanding of Bangladesh Air Force Base Birsreshto Matiur Rahman, Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Nazrul Islam welcomed the US envoy upon his arrival.
Miller visited medical camp organized at Kadamtola High School premises. and the engineering camp set up at Fokirer Tokiya High School.
He also exchanged greetings with the teachers, and students of the school.
The US envoy thanked all the concerned authorities, including Bangladesh Air Force, for their overall help in conducting the exercise.
A total of 250 BAF members under the command of Group Captain Abbas Ali, GUP, afwc, psc, GD(P), and 100 members of US Pacific Air Force under the command of Major Christofer Falmer are participating in the exercise.

Besides, six doctors from Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand are also taking part in the exercise.
During the exercise, 2,000 people, living adjacent to the BAF Maintenance and Care Unit at Lalmonirhat, are being provided with free medical treatment along with knowledge on post disaster medical care.
The engineers from both the countries are providing assistance in renovating, and repairing of damaged, and weakened structures of five selected schools in the area.
Responding to a question, Ambassador Miller said he always loves to see any kind of interaction between Bangladesh, and the USA, particularly bilateral, and military exercises.
US mission Commander Major Christofer Falmer laid emphasis on military-to-military relations between the US, and Bangladesh.
Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of Bangladesh Air Force Base Birsreshto Matiur Rahman Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Nazrul Islam said, the main objective of the joint exercise is to boost the existing friendly, and cordial relations as well as assistance between the air forces of the two countries.
"We have chosen this place as we usually can't reach engineering, and treatment services there that much," the AOC said.
