A trader has been stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants at his house in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga.

The incident occurred early on Saturday.

The deceased is identified as Abdur Sabur, son of the late Poran Mondol, of Hardi village of the upazila. He was a betel leaf trader and involved in the cattle-fattening business.

Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Alamdanga Police Station Ashaduzzman Munshi said unidentified miscreants entered Sabur's house, at 4am while he was asleep, and killed him with a sharp weapon.

Locals rushed to the spot, after hearing his scream, and found him lying in a pool of blood.

The body was then sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for autopsy, the OC said, adding that the motive behind the murder is still unclear.

Police have already started investigating the situation, the OC said.
