48hrs ultimatum for bringing attackers of Nur to book

Chhatra League activists allegedly attacked Ducsu VP Nur before at iftar party in Bogra

Leaders of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Council (BGSRPC) – the platform which spearhead the quota reform protest last year – gave an ultimatum  of 48 hours to apprehend the culprits who had attacked on platform's joint convener, also Ducsu VP, Nurul Huq Nur. 

Chhatra League activists, on Sunday, allegedly assaulted Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) Vice President Nur and several other quota reformation activists when they were preparing for an iftar party in Bogra.

They made the demand forming a human chain at the base of Aparajeyo Bangla at Dhaka University.

They also threatened that if the assailants were not brought to book within the given time, there will be protest programs at all colleges and universities across Bangladesh.

Platform Convener Hasan Al Mamun said: “None of the Chhatra League activists who attacked us several times have been brought to justice yet.”

Witnesses said 25-30 young men attacked Nur and his friends Sunday afternoon as the activists of the platform were preparing for an iftar party at the Woodburn Public Library premises in Bogra.

At least five others were injured in the attack. On Saturday, Nur was also barred from holding an iftar party in Brahmanbaria.
