Students of Mymensingh Medical College (MMC) continued protests against the alleged sexual harassment of a female student by a rickshaw puller on the campus for the third consecutive day on Saturday.
Police are yet to capture the accused.
The students gathered in front of the MMC academic building in the morning, and locked its main entrance in the afternoon. They vowed to continue their protests until their demands for justice are met, reports UNB.
MMC Principal Dr Anowar Hossain said: "MMC authorities are speaking to the students to resolve the situation."
On Wednesday evening, a rickshaw-puller allegedly sexually harassed a female student in front of the gate to the college hostel. Students began demonstrations the next day, and temporarily halted protests after the college authorities suspended two hostel employees over the matter.
The intern doctors at MMC hospital observed a work abstention to show solidarity with the protesting students.
The hospital’s Deputy Director Dr Lakshi Narayan Majumdar said the ongoing protests would not have an adverse effect on the hospital, as a sufficient number of physicians are employed there.
