10 dead as Chandpur-bound trawler capsizes in Meghna

The death toll from a trawler that capsized in the Meghna River at Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj rose to 10 as another six bodies were pulled from the water on Friday. Hit by a giant wave, the trawler sank on Thursday evening en route to Chandpur from Dhaka. The rescue operation is ongoing to find them,” added the OC. Mintu Biswas, a fire service official in Munshiganj’s Gazaria upazila adjacent to Sonargaon, said they had been able to detect the trawler. Sayla Farzana, deputy commissioner of Munshiganj, assured Tk20,000 would be given to each deceased person's family for their burial.
