At least eight people were killed and several others were injured in road accidents in five districts on Friday.
In Jessore, a motorcyclist was killed when a human-hauler rammed his motorcycle on the Manirampur-Rajganj road.
Locals rescued Apurba Mallik, 27, a medical representative and took him to Jessore General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
In Tangail, a man was killed and three others injured when a human haulier carrying them overturned in the Mirzapur upazila.
The deceased Abdul Barek, 70, died on the spot and the injured were taken to the Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital.
In Kushtia, a woman, Johura Khatun, 40 and a girl, Usha, 14 died in separate accidents being run over by shallow engine-run vehicles on Mirpur-Daulatpur road in Chunia Mor and in Shealah area in Daulatpur upazila on Friday.
In Habiganj, two men were killed and four others injured when a truck lost control and crashed into a roadside shop near the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in the Madhabpur upazila.
The deceased Ayub Ali, 67, and Junaed Mia, 45, died on the spot. The injured were taken to the Upazila Health Complex
Shaistaganj Highway police station OC Liakat Ali said: The truck has been seized but its driver fled.”
In Sirajganj, two men were killed and three injured in separate road accidents in the Sadar upazila.
The deceased were identified as Shahadat Hossain, 32, and Raihan Ali, 32, reports UNB
The first accident took place at the Kodda intersection when Shahadat's pickup van overturned, killing him on the spot around 11am.
Raihan was killed on the spot after being run over by a pickup van at the Raninagar village.
