An arbitration council is considering marrying a teenage girl to one of four men who had her raped her on multiple occasions in the Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur.
The men were identified as: Rabbi, 19, Meraj, 22, Ismail, 21, and Arefin Aminul, 20.
The council in a meeting on Thursday fined the guilty men with over Tk5 lakhs and have decided to use that money to organize the marriage ceremony on Saturday.
According to locals, the fatherless girl’s was from a poverty stricken family. She was taken advantage of by these men who raped her on multiple occasions. Recently she disclosed the matter as she was fell pregnant.
Union Council Chairman Md Gias Uddin said: “After considering the matter we have arrived at this decision.”
Hajiganj police station OC Md Alamgir Hossain said: “I was not made aware of the incident before,but will look into matter now.”
