4 killed in road crashes in 2 districts

Three people were killed in two separate road accidents in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi.

At least four people were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents in Narsingdi and Habiganj yesterday.

Three people were killed in two separate road accidents in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi.

The deceased were identified as Rasel Al Mahmud, 45, Shah Alam, 40, and Arifur Rahman.

The accidents took place near the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in the morning.

According to police and locals, a microbus rammed the rickshaw carrying Rasel and his colleague Khorshed, in Kamartek, and fled the scene.

Locals took the victims to Narsingdi Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Rasel and the rickshaw-puller Shah Alam, dead.

Khorshed was badly injured and has been transferred to a hospital in Dhaka for better treatment.

According to locals, a motorcyclist was also killed after being hit by a bus at the Kundarpara bus stand, yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Arifur Rahman.

Narsingdi Itakhola Highway police outpost Sub-inspector, Arjun Chandra Biswas, said: "The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their respective families after primary investigation."

In Habiganj, a man was killed and two others were injured when a truck overturned, hitting a road divider on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Shaistaganj upazila, yesterday.

The deceased, Mosharrof Hossain, 48, was the truck driver, and the two injured were his assistants.

Shaistaganj Highway police station OC, Liakat Ali, said: "As the truck was crossing the Walipur rail tracks, it bumped into a road divider and overturned. The driver of the truck died on spot. The dead body will be handed over to his family after primary investigation."
