2 suspected drug-peddlers killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

RAB seized one gun, two bullets, and 10,000 yaba pills from the spot

Two suspected drug dealers have been killed in a reported gunfight with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Cox's Bazar.

The incident occurred at the sea beach's Diabetic Point around 4:30am on Thursday.

One of the deceased has been identified as Md Masum, 31.

Identity of the other individual is yet to be confirmed.

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Assistant Superintendent of Police of RAB 15, Cox's Bazar, Mahmudul Hasan Mamun said: "Responding to a tip-off about drugs entering the country by sea, we conducted a drive in the area. 

"Upon seeing us, the drug-peddlers opened fire. We fired back in self-defence. We recovered the two bodies along with guns, ammunition, and drugs from the spot.

"The bodies have been sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy," he added.
