The local administration has initiated a probe body to investigate an allegation of obscenity at the altar of Shaheed Minar in Patuakhali's Kalapara upazila.
Kalapara Mayor Bipul Halder organized an event titled “Mayor Night” on as part of Pohela Boishakh celebration on Thursday.
The probe committee was formed following the allegations of “inappropriate dances” performed by a girl to a Hindi song at the event which sparked widespread outrage on social media, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tanvir Rahman.
The three-member panel was subsequently formed under the instructions of the district administration, he said adding that it has been asked to submit a report by April 23.
However, the mayor could not be contacted for comment.
