The Water Vessel Workers’ Federation has withdrawn their strike.
State Minister for Labour and Employment, Begum Monnuzan Sufian stated this on Wednesday morning.
The workers agreed to postpone the strike on the promise that in the next 45 days, salaries, as per the new structure, will be implemented.
On Tuesday at midnight, the minister met with the protesting workers following their 11-point demand and concluded this.

In the meeting, it was also affirmed that with the Home Ministry’s permission, necessary steps will be taken to prevent police extortion on riverways.
The 11-point demand included: the prevention of extortion and threats on riverways, social safety for water vessel workers, compensation of Tk1 million if a worker expires, a night-time allowance, and a special allowance for going to sea.
