At least eight people have died, and 30 people have been injured, in a bus road accident near Baniapara police box, Joypurhat.
The accident killed five women and three children on the spot, around 1:30pm on Friday.
Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Mominul Haque said: "The bus from Joypurhat, named MP Transport, lost control and crashed into a ditch near Baniapara police box.
"On the spot, five women and three children were found dead inside the bus. We rescued 30 other passengers and sent them to Joypurhat Zilla Hospital"
The hospital's Emergency Department's on-duty doctor Nurunnabi said: "Twenty-two patients from that accident are being treated at the hospital. Three of the critically-injured have been shifted to Bogra."
The passengers were mostly from Gaibandha District.
