At least four people have been killed and 15 injured in separate road accidents in Jessore district on Thursday.
One of the deceased was identified as Alek Sarkar, 55, of Ramnagar area in Jessore Sadar.
A bus hit the motorcyclist Alek Sarkar, from behind, and ran him over, leaving him dead on the spot, according to locals and police.
The accident occurred at the Shankarpur Central Bus Terminal area at around 10:30am on Thursday.
On the Jessore-Khulna road at Chaulia area, three people have died in a head-on collision between a three-wheeler and a truck , leaving fifteen people, including five children and two women, injured.
The deceased were identified as Subrata Bairagi, 25, of Gabkhali village of Manirampur upazila, Shiuli Das, 26, of Bhojgati village of the same upazila, and Shamim Mollah, 19, of Jangalbadhal village of Sadar upazila of Jessore.
Locals, the fire brigade, volunteers, and police rescued and took them to the Jessore General Hospital.
Doctor Waheeduzzaman Azad of the hospital said: "Two people were pronounced dead when they were brought in, and one has died after being transferred."
Among them, Shakib, 35, of Abhaynagar upazila, has been referred to Dhaka for better treatment, he added.
Police Inspector of the Kotwali Police Station Samir Sarker said: "The bus and truck have been seized from the accident site; the driver and helper fled from the spot."
Four people died in two accidents and the condition of one injured is critical, he added.
