An accused in a gang-rape case has been killed in a “gunfight” with police in Chittagong city.
Shahabuddin was killed in the gunfight that took place early Tuesday.
Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mohsin told the Dhaka Tribune: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a raid on Mariner’s Road to arrest him.”
“Sensing our presence, he opened fire at us,” he said.
In retaliation, police fired back, leaving the rape case accused dead.
Three policemen were also injured in the incident.
