A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the Bhujaripara border at Dimla upazila of Nilphamari district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Khalilur Rahman, 31, son of Moksed Ali of Paschim Chatnai village under the upazila.
Subedar Mobarak Ali, company commander of Dimla camp of Border Guards Bangladesh(BGB)Battalion 51, said BSF members opened fire on Khalilur when he went into the no man's land in the early hours, leaving him dead.
“A letter was sent to BSF to return the body,” he said.
Dimla police station Officer-in-Charge Mofiz Uddin Sheikh confirmed the incident.
