30 km tailback on Dhaka-Chittagong highway

The gridlock caused immense suffering among the passengers

Update : 10 Jan 2019, 02:19 PM

A 30-kilometer long tailback on Dhaka- Chittagong highway in Daudkandi upazila has led to immense suffering for hundreds of passengers.

The gridlock is in place for the third day on Thursday. Traffic polices are giving their best efforts to  bring the situation under control.

Sources said the extreme slow pace of the vehicles are due to Meghna, Gumti and Kanchpur bridges taking road tolls at a dreadfully slow pace.

Officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Police Station Abul Kalam said: “The tailback is on both sides of the highway. Vehicular movement remained slow since Tuesday night due to the ongoing development work of Meghna, Gumti and Kanchpur bridges.”

He also said highway police are  trying to ease the gridlock at the earliest.
