Police recovered the bodies of a couple and their two children from Debpur village of the sadar upazila of Chandpur district.
The bodies were recovered from their residence on Monday morning.
Chandpur Sadar model police station Officer-in-Charge Nasim Uddin confirmed the incident and said: "As soon as we heard about the incident, a team of police rushed to the scene."
The deceased are: Mainuddin, 35, his wife Fatema Begum, 24, their five-year-old daughter Mithila and one-year-old son Siam.
Zihad Kabir, superintendent of Chandpur police said police recovered the bodies, on information from the locals, in the morning.
Police primarily suspected Mainuddin might have killed his wife and children before killing himself.
Additional Police Super (ASP) Zahidur Rahman Chowdhury said: “The body of his wife was found in a pond. The husband's body was recovered from the house hanging from the ceiling. The bodies of the two children were found on the floor.”
Rampur Union Parishad Chairman Mamun Patwary said Mainuddin worked in a bakery factory in Chittagong and had come home on Sunday night.
