Thousands of moon lovers across home and abroad will gather at Shuva Sandhya sea-beach in Taltali upazila of Barguna district this evening to celebrate the country’s biggest and fullest moon festival.
According to local sources, Barguna district administration has undertaken various programmes to celebrate the event to attract tourists from home and abroad.
Barguna Deputy Commissioner and Moon Festival Committee Convener, Kabir Mahmud, says two launches will start from Barguna launchghat around 1.30pm for the newly discovered mind blowing sea beach located at the southernmost point of the country surrounded by three rivers – the Payra, Bishkhali and Baleshwar.
Various programmes including walking along the beach, moonlit night songs, traditional Rakhine dance, Baul songs, puthi path and reciting poems will be there throughout the night, he also says.
The district administration has also ensured security for 3,000 tourists.
A Facebook page has been opened for the occasion, says journalist Sohel Hafiz, an organizer of the event.
The journalist also says that at the sea beach, the excellent combination of picturesque natural beauty, blue skies, the huge expanse of the Bay’s waters, and the evergreen forest are extremely eye-catching.
It is one of the rarest places which has the unique beauty of offering the full view of the rising and setting of the crimson sun in the waters of the Bay of Bengal in a calm environment.
This sandy beach has gentle slopes into the Bay of Bengal and bathing there is as pleasant as it is walking or diving.
It is a rare scenic beauty spot on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh.
