Police have recovered the dead bodies of a mother and her daughter in Chittagong.
The bodies were found inside their home around 12:30pm on Tuesday in Gayebi Mosque area under in the city’s Double Mooring police station.
The deceased were identified as Hosne Ara Begum, 50, and her daughter Parvin, 18.
Police said they were informed about the matter by the duo’s neighbours who saw the bodies inside their house.
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Double Mooring police station OC Mohiuddin Selim said they were primarily suspecting that the duo had been strangled to death between 10pm and 11pm on Monday.
“We suspect their death was caused by strangulation as we have found the bruises around their necks,” he added.
The OC further said police were suspecting the daughter’s husband might have committed the murder, as he has gone into hiding.
“We have sent the bodies to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for post-mortem examination,” he added.
