The Detective Branch of Police have arrested Jamaat-e-Islami’s Khulna City unit chief Abul Kalam Azad.
He was apprehended from the city’s Royal More Saturday morning. Azad had gone there to travel to Dhaka on a bus.
The Jamaat leader has been arrested in sabotage cases, said Khulna Metropolitan Police media wing chief Sonali Sen.
She said police have three sabotage cases against Azad.
Jamaat’s Khulna unit Assistant Secretary Shah Alam claimed that Azad had been accused in 13 sabotage cases. He was acquitted in two and had secured bail in the other cases, Alam told the Dhaka Tribune.
