Another worker dies while extracting stones in Sylhet

A worker has died in a landslide while lifting stones from a quarry in Sylhet's Companiganj upazila. The deceased is Faruk, the 32-year-old son of Azizur Rahman of Bijaypara area. “Faruk died on the spot while extracting stones from a quarry in Utmachhara area on Monday morning,” Companiganj OC Altaf Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer visited the scene of the accident and assured he would take necessary steps, the OC added. Eight labourers died in two separate landslides in the same upazila last month. Recently, a tractor driver was killed in a landslide on March 2.
