Two teenage girls have reportedly been gang raped by eight people at Station Road in Chittagong city.
Police said the girls went to a business establishment in the area on Sunday in search of jobs. However, a group of people confined them to a room on a theft charge, report UNB.
Around 8pm, they were taken to the rooftop of Jalsa Market in the name of interrogation where eight people took turns in sexually violating them.
On information, a police team went to the spot around 10pm and rescued the victims, said Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mohsin.
The victims were later taken to the one-stop crisis centre of Chittagong Medical College Hospital, he said.
Police also arrested six alleged rapists from the spot, the OC said. “But several others managed to flee. We are trying to arrest them."
