Wood-laden trawler capsizes in Meghna River

A wood-laden trawler has capsized in the Meghna River due to strong current.

The Narayanganj-bound “MV Prince Ship Modina” capsized in the estuary of Meghna and Dakatia rivers around noon on Friday, reports UNB.

Chandpur Naval police station OC Rezaul Karim has confirmed the news.

Members of naval police, coastguard and local boatmen rescued four crew members of the trawler. They are Seraj, 40, Khalek, 50, Repon, 30, and Shipon, 20, residents of different upazilas in Barisal.

Trawler owner Ibrahim said wood worth Tk10 lakh was washed away in the river.
