Police has recovered the body of a pregnant woman from a water tank in Naogaon district.
The deceased was Shojoni Khatun, 25, wife of Wajed Ali from Manda upazila and daughter of Shafina Begum from Rajshahi district.
She was found from Chowkbhalain village of Manda upazila in Friday afternoon.
Manda police station Officer-in-Charge (OC Investigation) Mahabub Alam told the Dhaka Tribune: "Shojoni and Wajed constantly quarreled with each other about various familial matters."
He said Shojoni filed a case against him on September 1, leading Wajed to be arrested. He got out on bail and beat his wife again that night.
"When she died after the beating, Wajed hid her body inside the water tank and fled. Their neighbors found out in the afternoon and called the police," the OC said.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue.
Police have not arrested anyone regarding this incident.
