One person has been killed and 25 others have been injured as a train hit a bus in Baroiarhat area under Mirsarai upazila of Chittagong district.
Sunil Chakma, 60, was killed in the accident which occurred around 3:40am on Sunday.
Chittagong railway station Officer-in-Charge MoshtafizBhuiyan told the Dhaka Tribune: “Sunil died when Chiitagong-bound Bijoy Express hit a Khagrachhari-bound bus of S Alom Paribahan in the early hours of the day.”
He said: “The injured are being treated at different local hospitals.”
Mohammad Delwar Hossain, in-charge of Sitakunda outpost GRP, said: “The accident occurred due to the absence of a barrier in the level crossing.
“Railway communication was suspended in the area for two hours following the accidents.”
