A Chittagong court has granted bail to four physicians accused for the death of Rafida Khan Raifa— until such time as the police submit a probe report in the case.

The accused child specialist Dr Bidhan Roy Chowdhury, 50; Dr Debashish Sengupta, 32; Dr Shuvra Deb, 32; and the hospital’s managing director, Dr Liakat Ali Khan, 57, were granted bail on Monday.

The Metropolitan Court-2 Magistrate Abu Salem Md Noman granted the bail in Chittagong, said Kazi Shahabuddin Ahmed, assistant commissioner (Prosecution) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.

Earlier, a case was filed with Chawkbazar police station, against four doctors, in connection with the death of Rafida – daughter of Journalist Rubel Khan – for wrong treatment and negligence.

Two-and-half-year-old Rafida died at the city’s Max Hospital, due to alleged incorrect treatment and negligence, on June 30.

The hospital gave Rafida a dose of antibiotics—which triggered convulsions in her body. The doctors later administered an injection, which led to her death.
