Detectives in Bogura have arrested a Chhatra League leader and his lover from a house in the district’s Jamilongor area for illegally possessing a firearm.
Shahjahanpur upazila’s Gohail (union) Chhatra League President Mostafa Rahman Mostaq and his lover Shamima Aktar Shumi were arrested Sunday night.
Mostafa was in possession of a foreign-made 9mm pistol with six rounds of bullets and a magazine, police said.
A case was filed against the duo with the sadar police station against in this connection on the same day.
They were produced before Additional Judicial Magistrate Court with a seven-day remand plea on Monday. The court is scheduled to pass an order regarding the matter after holding a hearing on Tuesday. The court is scheduled to pass an order regarding the matter after holding a hearing on Tuesday.
District Chhatra League General Secretary Oshim Roy said Mostafa has been suspended from the party. He said the Gohail (union) Chhatra League Committee has been dissolved.
