Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had laid the foundation stone of the complex back on December 29, 2010.
The complex has been constructed with 16 separate buildings and infrastructures. It has all modern facilities, including academic building, training wing, ward room, parade ground, swimming pool, boat pool and dormitories.
To ensure international standard of training, the complex has been equipped with seaman ship, anti submarine, gunnery and communication model room, chart room, spacious library, computer and language lab, and modern auditorium.

Apart from these features, seven different types of science labs have also been set up to impart training on science and technical issues.
The architectural beauty of the complex is unique. The front side of the main academic building of the complex has been constructed in a way so that it gives an impression of a floating ship.
To perpetuate the memory of the Father of the Nation Bangababdhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a bust has been set up on the complex premises.
Made of bronze, the bust of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is 41-feet high from the ground and weighs 18 tons.
Several sculptors worked relentlessly for two years to construct the largest ever bust of Bangabandhu in Bangladesh.
