Ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari resume after 11 hours

Ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route have resumed after 11 hours of disruption caused by dense fog. Shah Md Khaled Newaz, an assistant general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Shimulia ghat, said the authorities suspended the ferry services on the route from 11:30pm on Thursday till 10:30am on Friday due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. "Three ferries from three ghats have already left for their respective destinations while another was loading vehicles," he added. Due to the thick fog, four ferries - carrying two hundred vehicles - were stranded in mid-river of Padma. Around 400 vehicles were waiting at the both sides of the ghats for crossing.
