The Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has ordered the authorities of Rima Community Centre to suspend all their activities until investigation into the stampede incident is completed.
CMP Assistant Commissioner (Kotwali Zone) Jahangir Alam confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune Tuesday afternoon.
He said the directive was given for the sake of proper investigation.
Jahangir said: “The members of Crime Scene Unit will inspect the scene. Moreover, the local administration has also formed a probe committee regarding the matter.
“The community centre was ordered to suspend activities so that evidence can be collected from the scene.”
Chittagong district administration also formed a five-member probe committee in connection with the deaths of ten people in a stampede at the post funeral feast of former Chittagong mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury.

“Legal action will be taken against the authorities of the community centre if they are found responsible for the stampede,” he added.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader is scheduled to visit the family members of the deceased victims of the stampede on Wednesday, Chittagong City Anderkilla Ward Councillor Jawaharlal Hazari told the Dhaka Tribune.
The incident took place on Monday at Rima Community Centre located at Ashkar Dighir Par area under Kotwali police station in the port city..
The ten deceased victims of the stampede have been cremated.
