At least three individuals were severely injured during a clash between students of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University (HSTU) in Dinajpur and local transport workers on Wednesday evening.
Later, agitated students of the university retaliated by setting three intra-district buses on fire in front of the university campus.
According to witnesses, the clash ensued when an heated exchange between students and transport workers over a collision between a university bus and an intra-district bus called Tripti Enterprise turned hostile.
The wounded individuals were taken to a local clinic for treatment.
Additional police have been deployed in and around the campus. Vehicular movement between Dinajpur and Rangpur has been suspended.
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday night, Dinajpur Kotwali police station OC Ridwanul Rahim said police was going to mediate between the students and the transport workers in a meeting on Thursday morning.
