A second grader has been sexually abused by her 20-year-old home tutor at Shibchar upazila of Madaripur.
The girl, 8, a student of Kabilpur Government Primary School, has been admitted to Madaripur Sadar Hospital for better treatment.
Police and the victim's family said the culprit, Sujan Mollah, a second year honours student who hails from the same upazila, had been teaching the schoolgirl at her home.
Like every other day, Sujan went to his student's home on Thursday afternoon.
Upon finding her alone in the building, Sujan forced himself on the girl, covering her mouth so that she could not scream for help.
Sujan continued to molest the 8-year-old by threatening to kill her until the child's grandmother came to the room, who had grown suspicious because of the lack of sound.
Caught red handed, Sujan fled the scene as the grandmother screamed for help from neighbours.
When contacted, Shibchar police station Sub-Inspector Abdul Kalam Azad said they detained Sujan from his home on Thursday night.
The victim's family has demanded that Sujan be given exemplary punishment.
As of 7pm on Friday, the process to file a case in this connection was underway.
