At least nine people have been killed and 10 others injured as a truck carrying Red Crescent’s relief goods for Rohingya plunged into ditch in Bandarban’s Naikhongchhari.
The identity of the deceased persons could not be ascertained immediately.
“The relief-laden truck veered off the road and plunged into ditch when its driver lost control over the steering in Chakdhala area at around 8am Thursday,” Red Crescent’s Bandarban unit General Secretary AKM Jahangir told the Dhaka Tribune.
The injured people were taken to different hospitals of Bandarban, he added.
The truck was heading to Myanmar border with the relief goods for Rohingya, who fled ongoing persecution in Myanmar’s Rakhine state.
