Selina Hayat Ivy has dedicated her third consecutive election victory to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
After being declared the winner of the Narayanganj mayor contest against BNP’s Shakhawat Hossain Khan on Thursday night, Ivy celebrated the victory with a massive crowd of supporters in front of her home in the city’s Deobhog area.
The atmosphere at Ivy’s camp was jubilant in the evening as results from centre after centre arrived with news of her victory.
Around 10:15pm, her victory almost ensured, Ivy descended among her supporters, who showered flowers on her. Awami League activists also celebrated in front of the Narayanganj Club and at the party’s city office at Second Railgate area.
“Just as people have voted for me beyond their political views and loyalties, so too do I seek to collaborate with everyone, not just Awami League, to complete my unfinished work,” Ivy said in front of the crowd.
On Friday morning she would visit Shakhawat’s home for tea, she told everyone.
