A gunfight took place between Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), suspected militants, as well as a separatist group with weapons in Bandarban's Thanchi upazila.
The incident, which is still ongoing, was reported from the Remakri union of the upazila.
Khandaker Al Moin, RAB's legal and media wing director, confirmed the matter.
Members of the militant group Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya and the armed organization Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) fired at the RAB members, said the RAB official.
The RAB also retaliated in self-defense, he added.
