Police have recovered a large cache of explosives-related equipment from a house in a drive carried out in Sunamganj's Jagannathpur.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ripon Kumar Modak confirmed the matter to the journalists after raiding the house in Dighalbak area of Asharkandi Union of Upazila on Sunday afternoon.
According to the police, a team led by ASI Mohammad Nur Alam Siddique of Jagannathpur police station carried out a drive at the residence of one Afzal Hossain.
When Afzal saw the cops at the time, he immediately fled the scene. In several rooms of Afzal Hossain's home, police officers discovered a variety of technological devices, white powder, and equipment.
The issue was reported to higher authorities by the Jagannathpur police.
On Sunday morning, DMP, Anti-Terrorism Unit, Special Action Group, Counter-Terrorism and the army's explosive expert team arrived at the location, and began the raid.
Ripon Kumar Modak said the operation resulted in the recovery of numerous electronic devices, explosive powder, and equipment for creating explosives.
“Legal action is being taken in this matter,” he added.
